Android 8 “Oreo” is the latest version in the long line of the Android operating system. While android devices are loaded with Oreo out of the box these days, devices bought before the launch of Oreo need to be updated to enjoy the features of Android 8 Oreo. Let us check out the ways to update your mobile device to android.
OTA Update
This is the easiest method to update your device to Oreo. To lay your hands on the recent android updates, you need to sign up for the Android Beta Program. Once you have enrolled your device Google will search for software updates for your device. This may take around 24 hours for first time users. Once you receive a notification, download the update and check out the updated features. Remember to back up important data as you might lose it after updating.
Rooting your device
This is a more complicated method of updating and requires some patience. Download the files for Oreo update from Google developer site for your device. Download ADB installer on your PC. This application acts as a bridge between your mobile and PC. Now navigate to “about phone” in mobile settings, click the build number few times and a new option called “developer settings” will be displayed in the previous menu. Click that option and your mobile will give you more privileges. Now flash your device to Android O from your system.
Warning: This process might void the warranty of your mobile phone. So it is not recommended unless you have knowledge of the entire process.
